Step-by-step help for creating your NSP account, completing the one-time registration, choosing the right scheme and getting your application verified before the deadline.

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is the single window for dozens of central and state government scholarships. Many eligible students miss out simply because the process looks complicated. It is not — if you follow the steps in order.

Before you start

Keep these ready: your Aadhaar number, a bank account linked to Aadhaar, an income certificate, a caste/community certificate (if applicable), your previous marksheet and a bonafide certificate or fee receipt from your institution.

Step 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

Register on scholarships.gov.in with your mobile number and Aadhaar. Complete the OTR carefully — the name and details must match your documents exactly. Note your permanent Application ID.

Step 2: Pick the correct scheme

Read the eligibility of each scheme before selecting. Applying under the wrong scheme is the most common reason for rejection.

Step 3: Fill, upload, submit

Complete the form, upload clear scans and submit before the deadline (usually October–November).

Step 4: Get it verified

Your institute verifies at Level 1 and the district/state department at Level 2. Track the status and follow up with your institute if it is stuck.
